Police recover PHP 1.1 million in Bacolod robbery

BACOLOD CITY — Police recovered an estimated PHP 1.1 million worth of stolen personal belongings following the arrest of a 27-year-old alleged robber in Greenplains Subdivision, Barangay Singcang-Airport, on Wednesday.

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) identified the suspect only as alias “JC,” a resident of Barangay Banago.

An initial investigation showed that the victim confronted the suspect after seeing him inside his residence.

The suspect allegedly tried to evade arrest by jumping over a fence, but the victim immediately sought police assistance, leading to a brief chase.

Police said the suspect resisted arrest but was eventually subdued by responding officers.

Recovered from the suspect were various electronic devices, watches, jewelry, cash, and other valuables.

Police also recovered a .22-caliber revolver loaded with three rounds of live ammunition.

The suspect is detained at Police Station 8 pending the filing of complaints for robbery and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

PRO-NIR said the immediate response helped protect the victim, recover the stolen property, and prevent the suspect from escaping.

Police Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, PRO-NIR director, said the regional police remain committed to preventing crime while ensuring that reported incidents are promptly addressed and investigated.

“We will continue to strengthen both our crime prevention efforts and our response to incidents across the region,” he said.

Reales assumed leadership of PRO-NIR this month as the regional police command continues to oversee law enforcement operations in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Bacolod City.
