Police probe Sunset Boulevard indecent exposure report
By Jennifer P. Rendon
Police are looking for a man who allegedly exposed himself beside his parked vehicle along Iloilo Sunset Boulevard.
The unidentified man allegedly exposed his genitals while engaging in a sexual act.
In a Facebook post, a woman claimed that she and her female friend went jogging along the boulevard early on the morning of June 15.
They saw a man engaged in indecent behavior beside a parked vehicle.
The Facebook user raised alarm, noting that the incident happened in broad daylight.
“I don’t want to let this slide because I have loved ones who enjoys running as much as I do, and I’m also actively promoting running to women across my social media platforms- and I fear they will experience the same fate that we did (sic) this morning,” she said.
She also asked netizens if they recognized the vehicle used by the suspect so the incident could be reported to authorities.
Following the report, Iloilo City Police Office Director Police Col. Wilbert Parilla ordered an immediate investigation to identify the man.
He also directed investigators to establish the facts surrounding the incident and determine possible violations of the law.
“We take this incident seriously and have already directed our personnel to conduct a thorough investigation. Let me assure the public that the ICPO does not tolerate any form of indecent, disruptive, or unlawful behavior that threatens the safety and comfort of our community,” Parilla said.
The city police chief also emphasized that while the incident is being investigated, it should not overshadow the overall peace and security situation in Iloilo City.
“While this isolated incident is unfortunate, it should not deter residents and visitors from enjoying Iloilo City. The city remains peaceful, safe, and secure,” he said.
Parilla also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious or inappropriate acts to authorities so appropriate action can be taken.
Police said they will coordinate with concerned individuals and review available information that may aid in identifying the alleged suspect.
Under Article 200 of the Revised Penal Code, “grave scandal” covers highly scandalous conduct that offends decency or good customs and does not fall under another provision of the code.
The public is also encouraged to cooperate with authorities by providing any relevant information that could help in the investigation.
For police assistance, the public may dial 911, visit the nearest police station, or contact the ICPO hotlines at 0908-377-0194 and (033) 335-0299.
