ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police have identified a person of interest in the killing of a businessman in broad daylight in Pontevedra, Capiz.
Police Maj. Gregg Anthony Salbang, Pontevedra police chief, said old grudges related to the victim’s furniture shop may have motivated the crime.
He said CCTV footage helped identify the suspect, who fled toward President Roxas town.
Salbang urged witnesses to come forward with any information.
The victim, identified only as “Lorenzo,” was shot dead by a man posing as a customer inside his furniture shop on the morning of May 31 in Barangay Rizal.
Investigators said the suspect asked about the price of a wooden door.
As the victim turned his back, the suspect drew a firearm of unknown caliber and shot him five times.
The suspect fled on a motorcycle without wearing a helmet or bonnet.
Bystanders brought the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police are continuing their investigation.
