Police confirm genders of bodies found in Talisay

BACOLOD CITY — Authorities have confirmed the genders of two decomposing bodies discovered on August 29 in a remote area of Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Police Lt. Ramon Juablar, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the victims — a man and a woman — were believed to have been dead for about five days before their bodies were found on private property.

The woman was wearing a black shirt and denim shorts, while the man wore only denim shorts, and both had visible tattoos.

A sako bag containing the woman’s belongings was recovered nearby, but investigators said no significant evidence has yet been found to advance the case.

The victims remain unidentified, and their remains have been unclaimed at Manapla Funeral Homes since Friday.

Police can only conduct an autopsy with permission from a family member or relative to determine the cause of death or any sustained injuries.

Juablar said the investigation is hampered by the lack of witnesses and limited closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, which only provides a distant view of the area.

This is the fifth case of body recovery in Talisay City in the past month.

On August 11, police found two men in Barangay Concepcion — both now identified and believed to be linked to drug-related activity — and another individual in Barangay Matab-ang, who remains unidentified.

Police have not yet established any links between the previous cases and the most recent discovery.

Mayor Rowena Lizares has met with Police Lt. Col. Alvin Chris Baybayan, chief of Talisay City Police Station, and ordered a full investigation while reaffirming her commitment to public safety.
