Under the leadership of PBGEN Jose Ligan, regional director of PRO6, the operations were part of an intensified manhunt campaign targeting fugitives across Western Visayas.
At around 4:55 p.m. in Barangay 216, Jose Abad Santos, Manila City, operatives from the Leganes Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), with help from local authorities, arrested alias “Jelo,” 44, a construction worker from Kubo Company.
“Jelo,” a resident of Barangay Bahian, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, is listed as the Top 1 Provincial Most Wanted Person in the region.
He faces charges for Rape by Carnal Knowledge and Sexual Abuse under Section 5 of Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).
No bail was recommended for “Jelo,” who is now in police custody at Leganes MPS for appropriate legal processing.
Earlier that day at 10:44 a.m., authorities from Barotac Nuevo MPS arrested alias “Bert,” 52, a resident of Barangay Badiang, Anilao, Iloilo, in Barangay Cruz, Barotac Nuevo.
Listed as the Top 4 Provincial Most Wanted Person, “Bert” is facing charges under Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), specifically Section 28 (b), in relation to Paragraphs (e)(i) and (g) of the Revised Penal Code.
Police reported no bail was recommended for “Bert,” who is currently detained at Barotac Nuevo MPS.
PBGEN Ligan praised the arresting teams from Leganes and Barotac Nuevo MPS for their diligence and commitment to justice.
“We continue to intensify our manhunt operations across the region to ensure that justice is served,” Ligan said.
“This accomplishment is a result of our collective effort to maintain peace, order, and public safety in Western Visayas,” he added.
