SIGMA, Capiz — Capiz residents who are victims of cyberbullying and other cybercrimes no longer need to travel to Iloilo City or other areas to consult authorities or file complaints following the opening of the Philippine National Police Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 satellite office in Sigma, Capiz.
The Capiz Police Provincial Office participated in the blessing and inauguration of the RACU 6 Capiz Satellite Office during a ceremony in Sigma on June 9, 2026.
The activity was led by Police Maj. Gen. Wilson C. Asueta, director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group.
He was joined by Police Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño, acting regional director of Police Regional Office 6; Police Col. Richard Adonis J. Habawel, chief of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6; and Police Col. Albert D. Tapualo, provincial director of the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
The event was hosted by the Sigma municipal government, where the office will be co-located.
Mayor Dante Rizal A. Eslabon welcomed the guests and expressed the municipality’s support for the initiative.
Also present were Rep. Ivan Howard A. Guintu of the 1st District of Capiz, Gov. Fredenil H. Castro, Rep. Jane T. Castro of the 2nd District of Capiz, provincial and local government officials, and representatives of various government agencies and partner stakeholders.
The satellite office seeks to provide faster and improved delivery of cybercrime-related services in Capiz.
It aims to help address cybercrimes, including online fraud, identity theft, cyberharassment, and other technology-related offenses.
Eslabon said the office will serve as a vital hub for cybercrime reporting, investigation support, digital forensic coordination, and community education programs.
The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group handles cybercrime complaints and investigations under the country’s cybercrime laws, including cases involving online scams, cyberlibel, identity theft, and other offenses committed through digital platforms.
