The PLDT High-Speed Hitters continued their waxing hot campaign in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour after finishing the group stage with an undefeated 5-0 record on July 27, 2025, at the USJ-R Coliseum.
PLDT racked up their second straight win over the weekend as they swept the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-20, 25-14, 25-17, to formalize their entry into the quarterfinals of the preseason tournament.
Before bagging their fifth consecutive win against Galeries, the High-Speed Hitters kicked off its weekend blast with a convincing dub over the NXLED Chameleons, 25-11, 25-17, 25-21.
PLDT then carried over their momentum and picked up where they left off when they blanked the Highrisers in a lopsided fashion.
Kim Kianna Dy led PLDT’s connection with 12 points, courtesy of her successful cross-court attacks and off-the-block kills.
Dy, who is slowly returning to form after missing a chunk of time in the league due to an injury, is already gearing up for a possible return to the starting rotation of PLDT when the formal season kicks off.
Her defense also helped PLDT save some clean hits from Galeries, including two crucial deflections when the Highrisers made it an interesting affair.
Unfortunately for Galeries, the duo of Mika Reyes and Jovie Prado supplied the much-needed points in the final four game sets that helped PLDT grab a momentum-boosting 1-0 lead.
From that sequence, PLDT sustained its firepower and didn’t let Galeries gain any room to breathe. The Highrisers doubled their effort in covering the middle area with their defense midway through the second, but that adjustment was countered quickly by Kim Fajardo, the team’s veteran setter, who started her point of attack from the left side of the court.
Galeries had their moments when they attempted to extend the game in the third set, but another barrage was sent by Dy and Reyes who were on-point with their offense, ending the two-day match schedule with another undefeated run.
Reyes and Prado backstopped Dy with 10 points each, while Fajardo orchestrated PLDT’s offensive sets to perfection with 17 excellent sets.
