With the sudden rise of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines including one in Negros Oriental, the tournament officials of the 1st Mayor Stephen Palmares Pintados de Passi Invitational Open basketball tournament have decided to postpone the said competition.
The news was confirmed to Daily Guardian by Mr. Jorge Serapia, Pintados de Passi basketball’s commissioner and technical head.
With six games left in the elimination round, the eight participating teams are vying for their respective spots to advance in the next round.
DPWH, Guimaras, Hercor College, Amistad/TEJ Builders, XYZ, team JKG Mamba, PNP, and the Ogtonganons squad are all jockeying for position to continue their journey until the playoffs.
With DPWH leading the race with just a lone defeat dealt by the Guimaras Leopards, it will be a struggle vying for spots 2 to 4 between Guimaras, Hercor, Amistad, XYZ, and team JKG Mamba as the teams have almost identical records.
Team Ogtonganons and the PNP squad have a lot of ground to make up as the teams at the bottom if they want to qualify for the next round.
