The Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) together with the Department of Health Region 6 (DOH-6) launched the “PinasLakas” vaccination campaign on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the 3rd floor of Robinsons Place Antique as the province continues to intensify its vaccination campaign of booster doses amid the increasing Covid-19 cases.
The provincial vaccination team spearheaded the provincial vaccination campaign offering first dose, second dose, and booster doses to Antiqueños.
Antiqueños can have themselves vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccines every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Robinsons Place Antique and every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the San Jose Rural Health Unit (RHU).
Last July 26, the health department launched the “PinasLakas” campaign which introduces a stronger nationwide booster vaccination campaign under the new administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. The said campaign aims to increase the number of Filipinos who were vaccinated with Covid-19 booster shots.
“Ngayon plano natin na mas paigtingin ang ating hakbang sa pagkakaisa ng iba’t ibang sectors ng ating lipunan at mas pinalakas na kapasidad ng ating local implementers. We are launching the PinasLakas today, which expresses the collective effort of the Filipino community to be vaccinated for a common cause,” said Assistant Secretary Nestor Santiago, National Vaccination Operation Center (NVOC) Incident Manager said in a press release of the health department.
In Western Visayas, DOH-6 targets to vaccinate more than 1.6 million individuals with booster shots.
As of August 2, 2022, a total of 5,207,737 individuals in the region are fully vaccinated while 808,671 individuals received initial booster doses and only 40,578 received their 2nd booster shots.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases in Antique continue to rise. As of August 3, 2022, the province logged 22 new Covid-19 cases. The province is currently monitoring 179 cases. (DG)
