BACOLOD City – An elderly woman died after she was hit by a pick-up truck in Barangay Estefania here last Sunday.
The victim was identified as Cecilia Valentino, 64, of Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, who was working as a househelper here.
Police Chief Master Sergeant June Garong, traffic investigator of Police Station 4, said the victim was crossing the street when the car driver failed to notice her.
“Ang focus niya abi ara sa left side, wala niya na notice na may gatabok sa pihak,” Garong said.
The victim was taken to Metro Bacolod Hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival.
Garong said the car driver, who is a Brazilian national, residing here for more than 10 years already, was released from police custody, yesterday, following a settlement with the victim’s family.
