ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Around PHP 50,000 worth of properties were destroyed when a house and a storage shed were razed by fire early Saturday morning, September 28, in Barangay Tiza.
Among the items lost in the blaze were PHP 10,000 in cash meant for the purchase of a motorcycle, a cellphone, appliances, and other important belongings.
Hermenio Dolfo, 37, the homeowner, said he initially smelled smoke while he was sleeping but ignored it due to feeling deeply depressed.
A few minutes later, he woke up to the sound of a large explosion, followed by the fire.
Dolfo immediately rushed outside and sought help from his neighbors, but the flames spread quickly.
Unfortunately, none of the property was saved, as the house was made of light materials.
Arson investigators are currently looking into the cause of the fire.
