PHP442,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Negros Oriental drug bust

BACOLOD CITY — A 36-year-old man tagged as a high-value individual was arrested in a drug bust that yielded PHP 442,000 worth of suspected shabu in Purok Santol, Barangay Balugo, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on Sunday.

The suspect, identified as “Ping2x,” a resident of Barangay Bagacay, Dumaguete City, was apprehended following a tip-off about his alleged drug activities.

Authorities confirmed the information and launched a buy-bust operation that initially failed but led to a successful transaction and arrest during a second encounter.

Recovered from the suspect were two large sachets of suspected shabu weighing a total of 65 grams, along with PHP 1,000 in marked money.

Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, director of the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), said the arrest demonstrates the region’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

“With the community’s support and our sustained operations, we will remain relentless in dismantling the illegal drug supply chain and protecting the welfare of every community in NIR,” Ibay said.
