BACOLOD CITY — An electric bike (e-bike) driver and a construction worker were arrested with PHP3.4 million worth of suspected shabu in Barangay 10 here on All Saints’ Day, Nov. 1.
Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested the suspects, identified as alias “John,” 29, an e-bike driver, and alias “Ellan,” 36, a construction worker, both residents of the village.
Police Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr., head of the CDEU, said the suspects were considered high-value individuals (HVIs) due to the quantity of drugs recovered.
Benitez noted that John had previously been arrested for a drug offense but was released through a plea bargaining agreement.
Police seized from the suspects 500 grams of suspected shabu, PHP1,000 in marked money, and PHP220.
Benitez said it took at least a month to monitor the suspects’ alleged illegal activities.
John will be charged with the sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs, while Ellan will face charges for conspiracy, Benitez added.
The suspects are detained at Police Station 2.
