BACOLOD CITY — Despite stormy weather, authorities pressed on with anti-drug operations over the weekend, arresting four suspects—including a government employee—and seizing PHP2,169,200 worth of suspected shabu in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.
In Binalbagan town, a 65-year-old man identified as “Roming” was caught with 250 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP1.7 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Marina on Sunday.
The operation was conducted by joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Negros Island Region and the Binalbagan Municipal Police Station.
Police Capt. Joelan Vinson, acting police chief, said a follow-up investigation is underway and declined to provide further details.
On Saturday night, the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested a high-value individual in Barangay 16, Bacolod City, leading to the confiscation of 60 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP408,000.
The Bacolod City Police Office identified the suspect as “Cedrick,” 30, a resident of the said village.
The BCPO reaffirmed its commitment to its anti-drug campaign and urged the public to continue supporting its efforts to combat illegal drugs.
In Silay City, a 35-year-old city job order employee was arrested in Barangay Guinhalaran for possession of nine grams of suspected shabu worth PHP61,200.
In Murcia town, a 19-year-old man was also nabbed during a buy-bust in Barangay Salvacion with two grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP13,200.
