More than PHP1 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in a police anti-narcotics operation in Calinog, Iloilo, early on Aug. 27.
Members of the Calinog Municipal Police Station (MPS) arrested a suspect identified as alias Braks, 40, during a search and seizure operation at his residence in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya.
Police conducted the raid around 2:30 a.m. and recovered approximately 160 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP1,088,000.
Maj. Myles Dieron, chief of Calinog police, said the operation stemmed from information provided by a concerned citizen regarding the suspect’s alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade in the area.
Intelligence reports indicated that Braks sourced his drug supply from Iloilo City and distributed it in Calinog and Passi City.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
