BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) seized 1,150 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 7.82 million and arrested a high-value individual in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balugo, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, on Friday.
Police identified the suspect as alias “John,” 35, of Barangay Batinguel, Dumaguete City.
Based on intelligence monitoring, the suspect allegedly sourced illegal drugs from Cebu and had reportedly been actively involved in distributing the contraband in several barangays in Dumaguete City.
Police Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, PRO-NIR director, said the operation demonstrated the regional police’s resolve to confront the illegal drug trade and protect communities from its harmful effects.
“We will act decisively on validated information, pursue those involved in the distribution of illegal drugs, and disrupt their operations before they can cause greater harm,” he added.
Reales said PRO-NIR will remain relentless in carrying out its mandate and will not allow illegal drugs to take root in the communities it serves.
He directed personnel to strengthen crime prevention and crime-solving efforts and ensure that every police operation is lawful, properly documented and respectful of constitutional rights.
The operation was conducted by personnel of the Dumaguete City Police Station’s City Drug Enforcement Unit following surveillance and validation of information on the suspect’s alleged drug activities.
Police coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency before conducting the buy-bust operation.
