BACOLOD CITY — Five persons were arrested and PHP 646,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate buy-bust operations in three areas on Negros Island on Sunday.
The operations resulted in the arrest of one high-value individual and four street-level individuals.
The first operation was conducted in Barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, resulting in the arrest of alias “Roy,” 56, of Barangay Looc, who was tagged as a high-value individual.
He allegedly yielded 50 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 340,000.
The suspect, according to the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region, had previously been monitored under COPLAN DANLOG.
On the day of the operation, the suspect allegedly agreed to meet at the specified location to carry out the illegal drug transaction.
The second operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City, resulting in the arrest of alias “Chow-chow,” 23, and alias “Thea,” 22.
Police said Chow-chow was arrested in 2022 and released in 2025.
Recovered from them were 25 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 170,000.
This was followed by another operation in Barangay Zone 9, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, leading to the arrest of siblings alias “Ruth,” 30, and alias “Ran,” 49.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 20 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 136,000.
