Police arrested a suspected warehouseman of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City, on the evening of November 8.
The suspect, identified as alias “Marco,” 26, of Barangay Sambag, Jaro, Iloilo City, was apprehended at his temporary residence in the area.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6, with support from the Regional Intelligence Division 6, the PDEG Special Operations Unit 6, and the Iloilo City Police Station 4, recovered nine sachets and six knot-tied plastic packs of suspected shabu.
Major Marvin Villanueva, deputy chief of RPDEU 6, said the seized drugs weighed about 850 grams with an estimated value of PHP 5.78 million.
He said Marco’s arrest came after two months of intelligence monitoring and surveillance.
Villanueva added that the suspect was reportedly distributing illegal drugs within Iloilo City.
Police said Marco had no prior drug-related or criminal record before his arrest.
He is now detained and will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
