More than PHP 47,000,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized in a series of anti-illegal drugs operations across Western Visayas in September.
In a press statement, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said the intensified crackdown against illegal drugs led to the confiscation of 6.936 kilograms of shabu worth PHP 47,170,000.
Different police units also seized 92.83 grams of marijuana during the monthlong police operations.
The recovery was a result of 131 police anti-narcotics operations that also led to the arrests of 185 drug personalities.
Fifty-nine of those arrested were tagged as high-value individuals while 135 were considered street-level pushers.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) registered the highest volume of drugs confiscated at 3.378 kilograms of shabu, or almost half of the seized illegal drugs in the region.
The IPPO’s seized drugs were worth PHP 22,971,000.
Operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) seized around 1.89 kilograms of shabu, and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6 recovered 1.075 kilograms of shabu.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, said the illegal drugs were confiscated through a series of coordinated and intelligence-driven operations across the region.
These included buy-busts and search-warrant implementation in close coordination with local units and community informants.
“This achievement showcases the unwavering dedication and commitment of PRO-6 personnel in safeguarding our communities against the threat of illegal drugs,” Ligan said.
He also assured that PRO-6 remains steadfast in its mission and will continue working tirelessly to uphold the safety and welfare of the people in Western Visayas.
The region’s top cop also called for the continued active participation of local government units, barangay officials, and the community, urging them to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities in their areas.
