PHP 2.6 million shabu seized in Pototan drug ops

ILOILO CITY — Four suspects were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Pototan, Iloilo, on Sept. 16.
Police identified the suspects only as alias “Pluto,” 35, of Barangay Rumbang, Pototan; alias “Ruth,” 25, and alias “Benedict,” 36, both of Barangay Igang, Pototan; and alias “Renato,” 42, of Barangay Barasan, Pototan.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit spearheaded both operations.
Police operatives arrested Pluto at around 12:05 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay Rumbang.
The suspect allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 12,500.
Police also recovered seven more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items from him.
Capt. Ryan Batadlan, IPPO-PDEU team leader, said the seized drugs weighed around 235 grams and had an estimated standard drug price of PHP 1.598 million.
Batadlan said the suspect was arrested after more than a month of surveillance.
The operation was the result of sustained intelligence gathering, target validation, surveillance, and coordination between intelligence and operating units.
Pluto allegedly operated in the towns of Pototan, Dingle, Mina, and Janiuay.
Meanwhile, Ruth, Benedict, and Renato were arrested at around 6:15 p.m. in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Igang.
They allegedly conspired to sell a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 13,000.
Following their arrest, police recovered four more sachets of suspected shabu and other non-drug items from the trio.
Batadlan said the confiscated drugs weighed approximately 150 grams and were valued at PHP 1.020 million.
Police said the suspects allegedly distributed illegal drugs in Pototan, Dingle, and Janiuay.
The two operations yielded about 385 grams of suspected shabu valued at a combined PHP 2.618 million.
The four suspects are detained and face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
