PHP 1 million lost in Dumarao market fruit fire

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — About PHP 1 million worth of fruits were lost after a fire of undetermined cause destroyed four fruit stands inside the Dumarao public market on Christmas Day.
FO4 Joaquin, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) fire marshal in Dumarao, said that the BFP received a report of the fire at about 12:13 p.m. and responded immediately.
Joaquin said firefighters declared the blaze out at about 11:43 p.m.
He said the fire spread quickly because the stalls were made of light materials and cardboard cartons.
Arson investigators are examining the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
