ROXAS CITY, Capiz — An estimated PHP 1.2 million worth of property was lost after a classroom at the Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion (CPC) Main Building was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning, Dec. 2.
Investigators from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire, which was raised to first alarm status, may have been structural in origin.
The blaze also damaged musical instruments belonging to the CPC Chorale that were stored in the affected room.
Authorities said the fire started at around 10:45 a.m. and was declared out by 11:32 a.m.
Firefighters from BFP-Roxas City and volunteers responded, along with fire trucks from the Capiz Citizens Action Group, BFP units from neighboring towns, Ferocity, the Roxas City police, and the Roxas City Emergency Response Team.
No injuries were reported.
School officials suspended all classes pending the results of the investigation.
