JORDAN, Guimaras – In a move to improve market access and logistics for Guimaras mango farmers, the Philippine Postal Corporation, the Department of Trade and Industry – Guimaras, and the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers’ Development Cooperative signed a memorandum of understanding on May 20, 2025.
The agreement was made possible through support from the DTI Supply Chain and Logistics Group, led by Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco.
The MOU reflects a joint commitment to integrate PHLPost’s affordable and reliable logistics services into the local mango supply chain.
This will allow mango growers and cooperatives to distribute products more efficiently and reach wider markets, especially in Metro Manila, where demand for Guimaras mangoes continues to rise.
The agreement also positions the 2025 Manggahan Festival as a platform to promote Guimaras mangoes and strengthen agricultural value chains and MSMEs.
By leveraging PHLPost’s national delivery network, Metro Manila consumers can now enjoy fresh Guimaras mangoes delivered directly to their homes.
This direct-to-consumer model connects farmers with buyers, expanding market opportunities and supporting local agribusiness.
The MOU was signed by Donabel A. Asuncion, acting area director for Western Visayas at PHLPost; Juvy D. Benliro, officer in charge at DTI-Guimaras; and Romeo Carrera, chairperson and president of the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers’ Development Cooperative.
The signing was witnessed by PHLPost’s Engr. Rolly Mamon and Provincial Agriculturist Alvin Nava.
The partnership represents a shared effort to empower rural producers, enhance agribusiness, and create a more inclusive and resilient logistics system under the guidance of the DTI Supply Chain and Logistics Group.
