BACOLOD City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southern Visayas will host an open-house tour of BRP Gabriela Silang and BRP Cape Engano on Dec 18, 2020 at the Bredco Port here.
Captain Eduardo De Luna, PCG-Southern Visayas District Commander, said the tour will be open to all residents of the city and Negros Occidental.
De Luna said the open-house tour is part of the celebration of PCG District Southern Visayas 3rd Founding Anniversary, wherein PCG commandant Admiral George Villareal Ursabia Jr. will also be in attendance and will serve as guest speaker.
Aside from the ships, De Luna said the PCG will also showcase its brand new PCG Airbus H145 Utility Helicopter on the flight deck of the BRP Gabriela Silang.
De Luna said the PCG will still strictly enforce the IATF protocols requiring all visitors to wear face masks and face shields while observing social distancing.
Other activities scheduled during the PCG district’s anniversary celebration are the ceremonial oathtaking and induction of the new members of the PCG Auxiliary, ceremonial signing of the memorandum of agreement between the PCG district and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the ceremonial signing of agreements and usufruct for the opening and activation of the PCG Air Station-Hinoba-an.
De Luna reiterated that they will strictly enforce the protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for visitors who will board the two vessels.
Minors below 15 years old, and elderly people 65 years old and above are not allowed to board the vessels.
Prior to boarding the vessel, visitors will also receive a briefing to inform them of the respective ships’ own protocols during the tour.
