The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Assisted Step 1 Registration in Guimaras pre-registered an additional of 14,226 Guimarasnons from April 5 to 30, 2021, translating to a 296.38% accomplishment.
Guimaras targeted to pre-register 4,800 individuals in the province as part of the nationwide extension from April 5 to April 30, 2021 of the Assisted Step 1 Registration of the PhilSys to cover barangays in the country with no internet connection and weak cell reception.
The Assisted Step 1 Registration of the PhilSys involves PSA data collectors conducting house-to-house interviews in pre-identified barangays in the province to collect the demographic data of individuals aged 0 years old and above.
Registrants aged 5 years old and above will be scheduled for the PhilSys Step 2 Registration which involves the capture of biometric data: complete set of fingerprints, iris scan, and front-facing photograph at assigned PhilSys registration centers all over the province, while registrants below 5 years old will be scheduled for the Step 2 Registration once they reach the age of five.

Of the total number of Guimarasnons registered, 3,445 individuals were from the town of Buenavista; 3,706 from Jordan; 3,535 from Nueva Valencia; 1,684 from San Lorenzo; and 1,856 from Sibunag.
Pre-identified barangays covered in April were Bacjao, Banban, Dagsaan, and Navalas in Buenavista; Buluangan, Lawi, and Sinapsapan in Jordan; Lapaz, San Antonio, and Sto. Domingo in Nueva Valencia; Igcawayan in San Lorenzo; and San Isidro in Sibunag.
Individuals pre-registered in the months of January, February, March, and April 2021 will be notified by the PSA Central Office through text messages for the Step 2 Registration scheduled to start in June 2021.
Guimarasnons who will not be registered in the PhilSys in January to April 2021 will be registered on the remaining months of the year either through the Assisted Step 1 Registration or via online registration at register.philsys.gov.ph.
Registrants who have already been pre-registered via the Assisted Step 1 Registration do not need to pre-register again online.
“We are also pleased to inform the public that the first batch of PhilIDs have already been delivered to Filipinos that have completed the Step 1 and Step 2 registration to the PhilSys in various cities and provinces nationwide via PHLPost, including Iloilo and Bacolod in Western Visayas,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
“Hopefully, Guimaras will follow after a successful implementation of the Step 2 Registration in the province,” she added.
