Merchandise exports from the Philippines surged by 26.1% in June 2025, reaching USD 7.02 billion (PHP 412.7 billion), the second-highest year-on-year growth in two years, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The latest increase followed a 28.2% spike in April 2024, with officials attributing the strong showing to sustained global demand for key Philippine export goods.
Mineral products, machinery and transport equipment, gold, manufactured goods, and coconut oil were among the top contributors to the export rebound.
Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina A. Roque said the June performance highlights the resilience and adaptability of local enterprises.
“Amid global challenges like geopolitics and supply chain issues, Filipino businesses continue to find ways to grow and compete. Their strength helps boost our export performance,” Roque said in a statement.
She added that, under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, the DTI is enhancing support for exporters through market intelligence, business-matching activities, and international trade missions.
The United States remained the country’s top export market, with shipments climbing by 35.2% to USD 1.21 billion (PHP 71.1 billion), up from USD 898.38 million in June 2024.
Exports to Hong Kong rose by 13.8% to USD 1.07 billion, while shipments to Japan increased by 30.5% to USD 974.8 million.
DTI-Export Marketing Bureau Director Bianca Pearl Sykimte said the export surge to the US may have been partly driven by early shipments timed ahead of possible changes in trade tariffs.
“While this contributed to the June surge, it also underscores the importance of diversifying our export markets,” Sykimte said.
“We are actively working to support sectors that are heavily reliant on the US by opening new trade avenues and strengthening our presence in emerging and strategic markets,” she added.
The DTI encouraged exporters to consult Tradeline Philippines for updated data and assistance through www.tradelinephilippines.dti.gov.ph or by emailing exports@dti.gov.ph.
