The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division marked its 52nd founding anniversary May 1, underscoring the unit’s resilience and strength.
The celebration was held at the 3ID headquarters covered gym at Camp Macario Peralta Jr. in Jamindan, Capiz.
Philippine Army commanding general Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete served as guest of honor and speaker.
With the theme “3ID @ 52: Matatag na Spearhead Division,” the celebration was highlighted by the awarding of medals to 12 soldiers for gallantry and exemplary performance in combat operations in the Negros Island Region.
Nafarrete and 3rd Infantry Division commander Maj. Gen. Michael Samson conferred the awards during the ceremony.
Of the 12 awardees, two officers and two enlisted personnel received the Gold Cross Medal.
One officer and four enlisted personnel received the Silver Cross Medal.
An officer and two enlisted personnel received the Military Merit Medal with Bronze Spearhead Device.
The command also recognized outstanding 3ID personnel and partners.
Command plaques were presented to Arminda Ornopia, chief of the 6th Field Property Accountability Office.
Samson lauded the awardees for their courage and dedication.
He said their deeds embody the finest traditions of Spearhead troopers.
Samson said the recognition is not only a testament to their individual achievements but also a reflection of the collective strength and spirit of the 3rd Infantry Division.
“As we move forward, may we continue to carry the same fire that our predecessors once carried—not of war, but of purpose; not of conflict, but of commitment. Let us remain steadfast as guardians of peace, builders of trust, and partners of the people we serve,” he said.
Samson said that at the end of every mission, every sacrifice, and every success, one truth will always remain: The strength of the 3rd Infantry Division lies not only in its arms, but in its heart, its unity, and its unyielding service to the Filipino people.
