Philadelphia signs Tacko Fall to a training camp deal

Tacko Fall just boosted his hopes of returning to the NBA after the Philadelphia 76ers signed him to a 10-day, non-guaranteed training camp contract on Sept. 2, 2026.

The Eastern Conference franchise announced its newest offseason development as it continues to find additional frontcourt reserves for superstar center Joel Embiid.

With the addition of LeBron James and the 76ers’ recent trade negotiations, Philadelphia’s frontcourt pool became depleted, paving the way for the coaching staff’s decision to hold a training camp for aspiring bench players who can fortify the squad when the NBA regular season kicks off next month.

The 7-foot-6 center is no stranger to the big boys’ league, debuting with the Boston Celtics in 2019 after signing a two-way contract.

Despite playing limited minutes, Fall made the most of his opportunity as he anchored the Celtics’ shaded lane while acting as a scrappy offensive rebounder.

Fall spent only three seasons with the Celtics before moving to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he played only 11 games before accepting an international stint overseas.

Fall failed to secure another NBA contract and continued his professional basketball career overseas, playing in the Chinese Basketball Association and Australia’s National Basketball League.

Fall recently had a short stint with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia, averaging 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game.

According to the 76ers’ front office, Fall’s roster spot will depend on his performance in training camp. If waived, he will have the option to play for the squad’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

Alongside Fall, floor general Jameer Nelson Jr. and swingman Saint Thomas were also signed to training camp deals.
