The Department of Energy (DOE) emphasized the role of green financing and artificial intelligence (AI) in accelerating energy efficiency at the Philippine Conference on Energy Efficiency and Conservation (PCEEC) 2025.
Held at the Makati Diamond Residences, the event carried the theme “Advancing EEC through Green Financing and Artificial Intelligence.”
The conference underscored the government’s push to make energy efficiency a nationwide movement fueled by innovation, collaboration, and data-driven solutions.
DOE Undersecretary Felix William B. Fuentebella said energy efficiency is no longer just about reducing consumption.
“It’s not about using less energy but being wiser and smarter about it,” Fuentebella said.
He shared that the DOE is simplifying access to green financial instruments such as green bonds, performance-based incentives, and energy service contracts.
These mechanisms aim to attract wider participation in energy efficiency initiatives from both the public and private sectors.
Experts at the conference showcased how AI is transforming operations through predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and smart building automation.
AI technologies help reduce energy use, lower costs, and cut carbon emissions in industries and infrastructure.
Meanwhile, green financing is driving not only upgrades to existing energy systems but also investment in research, digitalization, and workforce development.
The DOE reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening policy frameworks that reduce investment risks and support broader stakeholder engagement.
These strategies are aligned with the goals of the Philippine Energy Plan, which seeks a just and inclusive energy transition.
PCEEC 2025 also serves as a platform to mobilize public-private partnerships that support long-term sustainability.
“Sustainability is not just a destination, it is a journey we must take together,” the DOE said.
The agency called on all sectors to see energy efficiency as both a shared responsibility and a transformative opportunity.
