The Philippine women’s football team headed by chief tactician Marlon Maro is planning to set up a training camp in the US as part of the team’s preparations for the upcoming AFC Women’s Asian Cup January next year.
With the uncertainty of face-to-face training in the Philippines, the management is targeting California as their training ground.
“It’s hard to do face-to-face training here because the stand of the government is that we will only open establishments and the economy once the general population is vaccinated,” said Maro during the Philippine Sportswriters Association online forum.
Coach Maro has been urging his team to immediately get back on the pitch after their magical run during the recently concluded Asian Cup qualifiers.
“We can’t wait for that moment because the games will start in January, So the plan is to go to the US because they’re open there,” added Maro.
During the tournament, the PH Malditas made everyone proud as they swept their games with huge victories over Nepal and Hong Kong to secure their main ticket.
As of this moment, coach Maro and the rest of the team are seeking to get their visa problems fixed to have an easy trip abroad.
