President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has pledged stronger cooperation with Cambodia in renewable energy, trade, and other priority sectors during his state visit to Phnom Penh.
Speaking alongside Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace, Marcos said their meeting “involved a wide-ranging discussion on how our countries can effectively improve in meaningful and impactful ways the lives of our peoples.”
The President emphasized that both countries “recognized that the growth and resilience of our economies depend on opening new avenues of cooperation, expanding opportunities in trade, agriculture, renewable energy, and the digital economy,” according to the Presidential Communications Office.
Energy industry observers noted that the renewed focus on renewable energy opens potential for joint ventures, technology transfer, and cross-border investment in solar, wind, and other green technologies.
Marcos assured Cambodian leaders that the Philippines will remain “a steadfast partner” in advancing opportunities and building resilience against external challenges.
Beyond economic engagement, the two leaders also addressed pressing security concerns such as human trafficking, cybercrime, and illicit drug trade.
They agreed “to strengthen collaboration among our law enforcement and security institutions so that our collective response will be swift, coordinated, and effective.”
Marcos described his talks with Hun Manet as “a new chapter” in the Philippines-Cambodia partnership anchored on economic growth, clean energy transition, and regional stability.
