The Petro Gazz Angels are marching to the Premier Volleyball League semifinals after knocking out Sta. Lucia in a convincing sweep, 25-13, 25-21, 25-22.
Petro Gazz’s important victory completed the final four cast of the PVL’s semifinals with Cherry Tiggo, Creamline Cool Smashers, and the Choco Mucho Flying Titans already qualified.
The veteran duo of Myla Pablo and Ria Meneses were a handful for Mika Reyes and Sta. Lucia as they shared the offensive load for Petro Gazz.
Pablo finished the game with 17 points while Meneses chipped in 15 points, four clean blocks, and one service ace.
“Itong game na ‘to, for his tournament para sa akin ito yung convincing game talaga namin na panalo talaga. We’re happy na nagrespond yung players doon sa game plan namin,” said Petro Gazz head coach Arnold Laniog.
The huge win against Sta. Lucia helped them tie Tiggo for third place with a 6-2 record while defending champion Creamline stands at 7-1.
Alyssa Valdez’s Creamline meanwhile tasted their lone defeat against Jaja Santiago and the Cherry Tiggo squad but came back after stealing a win against the Flying Titans.
