Results of board examinations in engineering, medical-related, and agriculture and fisheries professions were released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in October 2025.
In the Electronics Engineer Licensure Examination, 1,040 out of 2,319 passed. Western Visayas produced 54 passers out of 96 takers, or a 56.25% passing rate. Twenty-four first takers out of 35, or 68.57%, passed.
On the other hand, 4,570 out of 5,900 examinees passed the Physician Licensure Examination. West Visayas State University ranked No. 5 among schools with 50–99 examinees and at least an 80% passing rate. Furthermore, Judah Elijah Manticahon Cagas of West Visayas State University ranked No. 7 among the successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places. Western Visayas produced 274 passers out of 334 takers, or an 82% passing rate. Two hundred thirty-two out of 274 first takers, or 84.67%, passed.
Meanwhile, 1,471 of the 2,054 examinees passed the Foresters Licensure Examination. The West Visayas State University–College of Agriculture and Forestry (WVSU-CAF) ranked No. 2 in the said examination. Furthermore, Jade Micah Lebuna Bangeles and Bobby Jamili Maderse of WVSU–CAF ranked Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, among the successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places. The WVSU–CAF is a Commission on Higher Education Center of Development (CHED-COD) in the forestry program. Western Visayas produced 90 passers out of 127 takers, or a 70.87% passing rate. Eighty-seven out of 116 first takers, or 75%, passed.
Lastly, 1,507 of the 2,165 examinees passed the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Professionals. The University of the Philippines Visayas (UP Visayas), with a 100% passing rate, and Aklan State University–New Washington Campus (ASU–New Washington) ranked Nos. 1 and 4, respectively, among schools with 30 or more examinees and at least an 80% passing rate. There were seven examinees from UP Visayas who placed among the 10 highest: Vince Justin Bulquerin Dela Cruz (No. 2), Jose Leo Gaspar Fortellano (No. 2), Jezel Dosano Alcantara (No. 3), Jasmin Salon Nosotros (No. 5), Bea Bianca Torreliza Pantoja (No. 9), Timothy Paul Briones Reynaldo (No. 9), and Cindy Servano Mandal (No. 10). Rickie Marx Garbanzos Ronamo of State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) ranked No. 4, while Leslie Kate Tejero Macaling and Andrei Von Torremillano Villarin, both of Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), ranked No. 8. Christian Ombega Jimenez of Capiz State University–Dayao Campus ranked No. 10. Western Visayas produced 268 passers out of 329 takers, or an 81.46% passing rate, which is higher than the national average. Two hundred forty-six out of 296 first takers, or 83.11%, passed.
Finally, as a whole, the above results showed that first-time examinees from Western Visayas performed better than the national average. The Physician Licensure Examination first takers also performed well both in Western Visayas and nationally, with 8 out of 10 passing. This demonstrates the quality of graduates among schools offering the Doctor of Medicine program. More than 8 out of 10 examinees in Western Visayas passed the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Professionals, indicating strong Bachelor of Science in Fisheries programs in the region, with UP Visayas and ISUFST recognized as CHED Centers of Excellence and Development, respectively. Therefore, the findings of this study affirm CHED’s effective implementation of program policies, standards, and guidelines, particularly during Academic Year 2024–2025.
