Pedestrian killed in Dingle pickup truck crash

ILOILO CITY — A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a pickup truck in Dingle, Iloilo, late afternoon on Aug. 8.
Reports identified the victim as alias Rio, 52, of Barangay Buenavista, Dingle, who was crossing the road in Barangay Tinocuan when he was struck by the passing vehicle.
Reports said the Toyota Hi-Lux pickup truck was driven by a certain Roman, a 38-year-old lieutenant commander in the Philippine Navy who is assigned to Naval Command Western.
The driver is a resident of Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
Rio sustained injuries to different parts of his body.
A barangay rescue vehicle rushed the victim to Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The driver was immediately placed under police custody after the incident.
