Peace and order council to tackle  local chief execs’ security concerns

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Friday said security concerns of local chief executives (LCEs) are among the issues that will be tackled in the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) meeting next week.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and DILG Secretary and National Peace and Order Council chairperson Benjamin Abalos Jr. signed Gov. Lacson’s Certificate of Appointment which was presented by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero at the Governor’s Office on Tuesday. DILG Region 6 team discussed with the governor his duties and functions as the RPOC chairperson.

“This is really very new to me because I am familiar with the peace and order in the province but this time it will be the whole region,” Lacson said.

He added that in the RPOC meeting on March 21, 2023, the Philippine Army, the Philippine National Police and the PDEA, and other government agencies are expected to report in connection with the peace and order situation in the region.
