PDL found dead in NegOr jail

BACOLOD City – Authorities are probing the death of a person deprived of liberty (PDL) inside the Negros Oriental provincial jail in Dumaguete City last Wednesday.
The name of the 27-year-old fatality was withheld.
Based on the investigation, a jail guard was conducting a routine inspection of the facilities when he noticed that the victim was already hanging.
The jail guard immediately sought the assistance of his colleague and the victim was taken to a hospital. However, he was declared dead on arrival.
According to the police, the victim was detained at the jail for a drug offense and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The victim was subjected to a postmortem examination.
