Around PHP800,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized from a 45-year-old resident of Molo, Iloilo City.
Antonio Romero, a resident of Barangay Tanza-Timawa, Zone 2, Molo, was arrested in a buy-bust operation evening of January 12, 2021.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) Team 3 and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Region 6 (PDEA-6) collared Romero with two plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth PHP50,000.
After he was bodily frisked, the suspect yielded around 115 grams of suspected shabu.
Also taken from his sling bag were two packs of suspected shabu, which police surmised was to be delivered to his downline.
Romero is a top drug personality on PDEA-6’s list. He is now detained pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
A few days ago, Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas Police Chief, said the public could expect more arrests and confiscation of bigger volume of illegal drugs.
For anti-drugs police operatives to do and perform, Miranda said he would incentivize their efforts, particularly those who have arrested high-value drug personalities who are confiscated with bigger volume of illegal drugs.
