PCG airbase eyed in Cadiz

BACOLOD City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is planning to put up an airbase in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

This development came after the signing of the deed of usufruct on Thursday between Captain Ludovico Librilla Jr., deputy commander of PCG District Western Visayas, and lot donor Manuel Lamata.

According to a statement from PCG, Mr. Lamata offered an approximately 30,000-square-meter parcel of his land located at Barangay Luna for the infrastructure project.

The project is necessary for the delivery of Coast Guard services through aerial assets in Western Visayas.

“The airbase will allow the PCG to conduct aircraft landing, refueling, and restocking of materials for logistical missions, such as search and rescue (SAR) operations, reconnaissance, aerial surveys, and aerial domain awareness,” Librilla said.

The PCG thanked Mr. Lamata for donating a portion of his lot in support of the PCG’s mission to serve the nation.
