PCCI Iloilo President Engr. Fulbert C. Woo, alongside AVP Melanie Ng, received the prestigious plaques from PCCI leaders, including President Consul Enunina V. Mangio and Chairman George Barcelon. Woo expressed pride in the recognition, stating, “This is a testament to our collective efforts in advancing the business landscape in Iloilo and the Visayas.”
In addition to this notable achievement, PCCI Iloilo also won the inaugural Local Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Tourism Advocacy Award on Oct. 22, 2024. This award was given in recognition of the chamber’s role as a co-presenter of the Paraw Regatta Festival, an event that significantly boosted tourism and supported local MSMEs.
“The Paraw Regatta Festival is not just a cultural event; it’s an economic driver that highlights our local businesses,” Woo added. The trophy was presented by Vice President Sara Duterte, acknowledging PCCI Iloilo’s contribution to tourism and economic growth in the region.
Iloilo Province also earned recognition as the second Most Business-Friendly Province in the Philippines, with a special citation for its infrastructure programs and public-private partnerships. Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. accepted the award on behalf of the provincial government. “In Iloilo, agriculture is business,” Defensor emphasized, underscoring the province’s focus on agricultural development to drive economic growth.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City claimed the prestigious title of Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) for Highly Urbanized Cities (HUCs), defeating 16 other cities. Mayor Alfredo Benitez received the award and reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, business-friendly reforms, and transforming Bacolod into a “Super City.”
Western Visayas continued to shine in the national spotlight, with West Visayas State University also winning the Best Business Idea Development Award (BIDA), further showcasing the region’s dedication to innovation and economic empowerment.
