Commissioner Willie Marcial and the rest of the PBA board recently talked about the players’ decision not getting vaccinated for COVID-19.
Marcial confirmed that getting vaccinated is not mandatory but it will have added restrictions to those who decided not to subject themselves to the vaccines.
“Kung hindi ka naka-vaccine, hindi ka makakalabas, hindi ka makakatanggap ng bisita,” Marcial explained regarding the health and safety protocols for those who weren’t vaccinated.
Marcial added that if the player tests positive, he should observe a 14-day quarantine once again and worst case scenario is, he wouldn’t receive his salary from the team due to his court absence.
With the availability of the vaccines now nearing its proposed plan in the big league, Marcial reiterated that there would be a bunch of disadvantages if players refuse to get the vaccine.
However, Marcial said that it will still be the players’ rights and final decision if they aren’t favorable of getting the vaccines.
“Naiintindihan natin kung ayaw nila at hindi mandatory ng gobyerno, hindi natin sila pipilitin. Ok lang yung ayaw nilang magpa-vaccine. Karapatan nila yun,” shared Marcial.
