PBA plans to revive Hall of Fame Awards

After seven years, the PBA is eyeing the return of the prestigious Hall of Fame Awards as the highlight of its 45th season.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that in line with the PBA’s anniversary, they are looking into the possibility of bringing back the event which saw the presentation of the PBA’s first 40 Greatest Players of all time.

However, Marcial emphasized that he will be selecting a special committee to select the awardees to avoid controversy and further issues, a thing that happened during the 2003 awarding.

In this year’s format, Marcial spiced it up with a little twist, saying that not only the players deserve to be awarded, but also the media men and the TV personalities that helped shape the PBA to what it is now.

Also, to be fair to all PBA personnel, Marcial is planning to award the feats by decade, stating that every decade has its own flavor, and each key person per decade should be noticed and not left out.

With the COVID-19 pandemic seeing their basketball operations delayed, Marcial is thoroughly mapping out the most convenient plans in their upcoming events to make sure things will go smoothly.

“Di mo masa-satisfy lahat ng tao, pero gagawa tayo ng group study kung paano aatakihin at sino ang dapat maging parte ng committee. Kailangan ayusin natin kung paano dapat yung treatment,” said Marcial.
