Pavia Sangguniang Bayan member Jo Jan Paul “JP” Peñol was elected president of the Philippine Councilors League Iloilo Chapter during elections held September 12 at Diversion 21 Hotel in Iloilo City.
A total of 433 councilors from 42 municipalities and Passi City participated in the polls.
Peñol said his leadership will be anchored on his platform “DABEST,” which stands for Development for all, Accountable leadership, Bridging communities, Empowerment through education, Service above self, and Transformative governance.
His priorities include enhancing the capabilities of councilors through training programs, promoting financial transparency in governance, and improving procedural efficiency and compliance in local legislation.
As PCL Iloilo president, he will also serve as an ex-officio member of the Iloilo Provincial Board.
The new set of officers includes Vice President Christy Love Custodio-Margarico of Guimbal, Secretary-General Nonito Q. Pasuelo Jr. of Pototan, Treasurer Kristine Zerrudo-Valencia of Sara, Auditor Andres T. Bedro Jr. of Balasan, Business Manager Ramon Andrei Pantin of Passi City, and Public Relations Officer Rhalyn Erika G. Sariñas of San Joaquin.
The board of directors is composed of Joseph Allen Españo of Leganes, Donnabelle Mendoza of Pototan, Genesis Diesto of Ajuy, Jasmine Ocampo-Golez of Dumangas, Ramon Rojas III of Ajuy, Rodolfo Alconga Jr. of Oton, Mariano Malones Jr. of Maasin, and Jeffrey Araneta of New Lucena.
Peñol ran against New Lucena Councilor Liecel Mondejar-Seville for the presidency.
