Aiming to improve local mobility and connectivity, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office has completed a concrete road in Villa Leganes, Barangay Cagamutan Norte, Leganes, Iloilo.
The PHP 14.185-million project involved the construction of a 711-lineal-meter, two-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) road, providing residents with safer and more convenient access across the community.
The project also included the construction of lined canals, sidewalks for pedestrian safety, and curbs and gutters.
Citing the report from District Engineer Mario G. Soriano, Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel stated that the two-lane road will facilitate faster movement of people and services, benefiting hundreds of local residents.
“This paved road offers a vital contribution to local growth and development, providing easy access to basic services and economic opportunities for an improved quality of life,” Oropel said.
Oropel added that the road will enhance the local road network, improving mobility and making the transport of goods and services more efficient.
District Engineer Soriano explained that the construction of the concrete road is crucial for providing access to education, healthcare, and other essential services.
“Residents in rural and far-flung areas often face challenges in accessing basic government services. This concrete road helps bridge the gap between the government and people in local communities,” Soriano emphasized.
Roads play a critical role in modern society, offering increased mobility for people, goods, and services. Good roads boost the economy and provide easier access to essential services.
The DPWH remains committed to implementing significant road projects that connect rural communities to major thoroughfares, ensuring faster transportation and improved access to government services. (DPWH)
