Paul George just can’t catch a break.
After only playing 41 games during the past NBA regular season due to multiple injuries, the superstar swingman’s availability in the first half of the upcoming conference will be in limbo after undergoing an arthroscopic procedure to repair his left knee.
The Philadelphia front office announced the development on July 14, 2025, and added that George was taken to the Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center.
Reports confirmed that George suffered the left knee injury during a recent workout but no specific details were relayed to the press.
It was a disappointing debut for George in Philadelphia as the squad failed to advance to the NBA Playoffs for the first time since the 2017-2018 season.
Entering the 2024-2025 season with high expectations due to the talented pool of players the 76ers had, their dream season turned into a nightmare after the team only finished 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 24-58 win-loss record.
George ended his first year playing for Philadelphia with a second-worst scoring average in his 12-year career after only tallying 16.2 points in 41 games.
Despite playing alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the big 3 failed to turn their season around after the All-Star break and decided to wave the white flag with 30 games still remaining before the playoffs.
An unfortunate chain reaction of events took place in the 76ers as Embiid and Maxey later on joined George in the injured list, and were forced to remain on the sidelines when they consumed all of their chances to qualify in the NBA Play-In stage.
This upcoming NBA season, the 76ers are looking to bounce back with a healthier squad, adding key pieces like Jabari Walker and Lonnie Walker IV.
The team also re-signed veteran point guard Kyle Lowry, and will still have the services of shooting guard Eric Gordon and two-way forward Kelly Oubre Jr.
