A driver confined at a hospital in Lambunao, Iloilo, was found dead inside the medical facility on the morning of June 10.
Police identified the victim only as alias Renz, 55, a driver from Janiuay, Iloilo.
Reports said a utility worker at Dr. Ricardo Ladrido Memorial District Hospital found Renz lying on the floor in a supine position at about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
A knife was embedded in the victim’s abdomen.
Lt. Vincent Garcia Jr., Lambunao police chief, declined to discuss the circumstances surrounding Renz’s death following a request from the victim’s family.
Garcia said the victim’s wife also said the family would forgo an autopsy.
The family told police investigators they believed no foul play was involved.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives team was called to conduct a crime scene investigation.
Police said initial findings showed no signs of foul play or the involvement of other persons in the victim’s death.
Sources said Renz had been confined at the hospital for pneumonia.
Before the incident, he had allegedly displayed “stress and frustrations” over financial difficulties and undisclosed medical complications.
