Police arrested a 35-year-old church pastor Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 5 apprehended the suspect, identified only as “Aron,” at his residence in Barangay Oñate-de Leon, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The arrest warrant charged him with Acts of Lasciviousness under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code and violations of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
Judge Regina Centenera Galang-Guarin of the Regional Trial Court 6, Branch 30, Iloilo City issued the warrant Monday.
The court set bail at 200,000 pesos for the first charge and 80,000 pesos for the second charge.
Police Station 5 Chief Capt. Joebert Amado said the suspect was listed as Iloilo City’s eighth most wanted person.
The victim, a church member, reported that the pastor allegedly molested her in 2023.
Authorities withheld additional details about the case.
Iloilo City Police Chief Col. Kim Legada said the arrest demonstrates the department’s commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals.
“Let this serve as a reminder that no one is above the law,” Legada said.
