PASSI CITY, Iloilo — An unemployed man was arrested during a police anti-narcotics operation late Thursday, Oct. 22, in Passi City.
Police identified the suspect only as “Donald,” 36, a resident of Casamayor Street in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya.
Members of the Passi City Police Station arrested the suspect during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Quinagaringan Pequeño at around 11 p.m.
The suspect allegedly sold two sachets of suspected shabu valued at PHP 15,100 to an undercover police officer.
Police said five more sachets of suspected shabu and several nondrug items were recovered from the suspect after his arrest.
The seven sachets weighed approximately 220 grams and had an estimated standard drug price of PHP 1,496,000, police said.
The valuation was based on the standard drug price of PHP 6,800 per gram used by the Philippine National Police.
Police Regional Office 6 Director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño said the arrest followed sustained intelligence monitoring, target validation, and information development.
Police said the arrest was expected to disrupt localized illegal drug activities in Passi City.
The suspect remained detained and would face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The law prohibits the unauthorized sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Sections 5 and 11, respectively.
