A new home for a Philippine Army unit will soon rise in Passi City, Iloilo.
This, after the Passi City government donated a 10-hectare to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The signing of the deed of lot donation was held at the New ABC Hall in Barangay Sablogon, Passi City on September 8, 2022.
Mayor Stephen Palmares and Vice Mayor Elyzer Chavez signed the deed of lot donation for the Passi City government.
It was received by Major General Benedict Arevalo, Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) commander, and Brigadier Gen. Marion Sison, 301st Infantry Brigade commander, on behalf of the AFP.
Located at Sitio Summit, Barangay Aglalana, Passi City, the lot will become the future home of the Philippine Army’s Camp Ricardo P. Palmares Sr.
Palmares cited that the partnership between the Passi City government and the AFP will strengthen the economy following the conduct of the 1st Panay Peace Summit, a joint initiative of the 301st “Bayanihan” Brigade and the Regional Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC).
Upon Sison’s invitation, the city government hosted the event in December 2020.
It was during that event that Mayor Stephen Palmares and then Vice Mayor Jesry Palmares discussed their willingness to donate a parcel of land to the Philippine Army.
Meanwhile, Sison has lauded the city government’s initiative to forge a stronger partnership with the military service
“Being recipient of the donated land, we, at the Philippine Army vow to sustain peace and security not only for Passinhons but for all the people of Panay Island. This historic event will serve as our additional motivation and inspiration to strengthen our mission of ending local armed conflicts,” Sison said.
It can be noted that the Passi City government also donated a lot for the future headquarters of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Nestled on a two-hectare lot, the area will provide enough space for improvements as stipulated in the Camp Development Plan.
