BACOLOD City – A male passenger, who was reportedly suffering from a nervous breakdown, died after he jumped off a Bacolod-bound roll-on roll-of (Roro) vessel last Saturday.
The name of the 43-year-old victim, who is a resident of Barangay Handumanan here, was withheld.
Based on a report, the victim allegedly climbed the ship’s bridge deck and jumped off the starboard side of the vessel around 3.1 nautical miles away from the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port.
The victim was then later found unconscious in the water and was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Negros Occidental has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. Investigation is ongoing.
