ILOILO CITY Mayor Jerry P. Treñas wanted the seven-storey, multi-purpose Legislative Parking Building to start construction by yearend to address the parking needs of City Hall.
“The facility will free the streets in front of City Hall of parked vehicles. Our objective is to provide parking structure so that everyone can use this. So, hopefully before the end of the year, we can start and fast-track the project. It will have an area of 1,000 square meter per floor,” Treñas said.
The proposed building will be constructed beside Ker and Co. heritage building right behind City Hall.
The mayor already discussed with the finance committee the budgetary requirements.
The first floor will host city offices so that it will be easier for the public to transact business.
The second to fifth floors will be designated as parking spaces. The area can accommodate 25 cars per floor or a total of 100 cars for four floors, Treñas added.
The two floors will host the City Council for them to have bigger offices, Treñas noted the limited space when he took rounds of councilors’ offices located at sixth floor of City Hall.
Multi-level parking building is considered as solution to lack of spaces in congested centers where the transacting public converge. (PIO)
